The Project The World Bank in partnership with the Government of Ghana, KNUST, AABN and other development partners seeks innovative strategic solutions to Ghana's growing problem of Solid Waste Management, organizing a competition in 5 Metropolitan Areas: Accra, Tema, Kumasi, Sekondi-Takoradi and Tamale. The competition seeks to stimulate over 500 small-scale actors and partner organisations to generate innovative and sustainable project ideas. At the Innovations Marketplace there will be exhibitions of good practices, technological developments and proposed solutions to improve waste management in Ghana, Presentations on issues in Ghana and other countries, followed by discussions on the roles that the community, entrepreneurs, financiers, policy makers, researchers could take to address those issues. The marketplace would conclude with the recognition of better ideas to resolve the issues. EligibilityGhanaian Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s), Civil Society Organisations (CSO’s), or individuals Profit making start-up or established ventures Applicants should be willing to register the business venture (if not already registered) upon winning the award Applicants should be able to demonstrate capacity to develop the idea into a viable business venture Proposals must address SWM issues in one of the five eligible metropolitan areas: Accra, Tema, Tamale, Kumasi and Sekondi-Takoradi.

Awards Up to 100 projects will receive capacity building support as well as: Up to 10 National Winners will receive between GH¢10,000 - 50,000each Up to 10 Winners per Metropolitan area will receive between GH¢5,000-10,000 each Up to 50 other projects will receive various awards and recognitions
